There was an incredibly strong earthquake in the Ishikawa prefecture with a of magnitude 6.2, 'Noto Earthquake'. Of all days it happened new year's day. It was a shock for me to say the least. Luckily I was far enough from the epicenter that I was saved from any serious effects.

The first quake was just a little shake, being from California it seemed like nothing big. While I was preparing to ask friends on instagram if they had felt it, a blaring sound came from my phone saying 'earthquake earthquake, warning' in a calm voice on repeat, followed by a siren sound. I thought to myself okay this will be a little one. I was not prepared for what followed the shaking began quickly, a definite shock, and only got stronger. I tried to hold stand for a second and soon realized that was not going to be possible and sat down on to my bed. Once it had ended I thought I stood up and went outside. Soon the aftershocks came, strong at first but diminishing in intensity, there must have been 20-30 earthquakes I felt over the past few days.

I won't forget this anytime soon.
